My Services

I provide individual therapy for adults, adolescents and children as well as family and couple therapy.  I work collaboratively with my clients to create a context in which they are able to truly be themselves, explore significant themes in their lives and work towards their goals. I draw upon a wide range of therapeutic styles in order to meet the needs of the diverse populations I serve. Therapy may involve a variety of experiences in addition to talking, such as expressing yourself through art, creative projects and experiential activities; incorporating your spiritual practices; discussing books, art, movies and music that have relevance for your life; and/or developing plans and working towards concrete goals. Several models of therapy inform my work. Attachment, Humanistic, Existential, Bowenian, Structural, Narrative, and Multicultural theories have all been useful in helping me help my clients.

I believe that positive experiences in therapy depend on positive working relationships between clients and the therapist. Regardless of the style of therapy we determine is right for you, I will always strive to provide you with a trustworthy relationship. I believe that trust is created through consistency, empathetic understanding of your experiences, responsiveness to your needs, honest communication, and creating space for you to give me feedback about our work together. I believe it is my responsibility to provide you with this kind of working relationship and always make these themes a top priority.

Some of the things I can be helpful with include:

  • Healing from loss, trauma and abuse.
  • Increasing understanding and communication in family relationships.
  • Addressing concerning behaviors and emotions in children and adolescents.
  • Improving communication and intimacy in couple relationships.
  • Improving self-worth, confidence, and personal empowerment.
  • Overcoming depression and anxiety.
  • Adjusting to stressful life transitions.
  • Navigating issues commonly associated with adoption and foster care.
  • Discovering and claiming a sense of meaning, purpose, and direction.
  • Addressing issues related to substance abuse, violence, gang affiliation, and illegal activities.

For a variety of reasons, there are times that meeting in an office for therapy is not ideal for some clients. As an alternative to office appointments, I am willing to assess your needs and consider meeting with you in your home, at schools (e.g. to collaborate with teachers and staff towards educational and behavior plans), or other locations.

I charge $150.00 per 60 minute session. A sliding scale is available. I am willing to adjust my fee significantly in order to ensure that anyone who wants therapy is able to recieve it, regardless of income. Please do not let finances hold you back from seeking help.
